I’ve fancied a crack at redesigning my boyhood club, Sunderland’s crest for a while. With our relegation to League One, the piss poor couple seasons we’ve had along with Stuart Donald’s takeover and the optimistic outlook our new chairman brings, now seems a better time than any to give it a go.
Roker Park was my first flavour of live football as a child and as a former season ticket holder during the glorious Peter Reid era. I wanted to create an updated version of our classic crest (Much like Manchester City did recently to great success) that epitomised Sunderland’s great history and the crest that embodied the passionate, working-class history of our famously supported club.
